Should You Use A Countertop Water Filter Or Other Options?

By Lucy Cho

There are many reasons that we are advocated to use some kind of water filter, be it a countertop water filter or some other kind. This article will explore some of the reasons you might want to install that countertop water filter from Pristine Water Purification or other providers, and some things that might be holding you back. Many people live in places where they believe that their tap water is healthy and reliable, but this isn't always the case, and those people may be mistaken about the quality of their water. We all have heard that we're supposed to get a certain amount of water each day to be healthy, but we certainly don't want water with contaminants or other problems.

We will look into multiple issues that people may face if they opt not to install a countertop water filter or another type of filter. We will also look into benefits of having clean water. Finally, we will address a few of the reasons people might not install water filters or use other systems.

Choosing not to install a filtration system like a countertop water filter in your home could lead to various issues. Tap water may potentially contain thousands of different contaminants and some can even be poisonous. The EPA has come up with a comprehensive list of contaminants like disinfectants, microorganisms, and chemicals. A natural disaster or industrial accident can taint otherwise reliable water supplies. Maybe you choose not to use a filtration system like a Pristine water purification system because you feel bottled water can solve such issues. Bottled water is typically much more expensive, and as recently as 1999 the Natural Resources Defense Council found that up to 40% of bottled water is really just tap water in a bottle. Others choose to boil their water, but this can be a serious inconvenience and it can also effect taste.

Clean, purified drinking water can be a great benefit to our health. Kids especially need clean and pure water for proper mental and physical development. Pregnant women are encouraged to steer clear of drinking water with lead in it, as it can lead to learning disorders in their child. The EPA has estimated that drinking water has contributed to 480,000 instances of learning disorders in children in the US every year. Filters can remove lead and other threatening substances that cause these problems. Clean drinking water can do much for adults' overall health as well.

As mentioned before, many find reasons not to install a countertop water filter or other filters. Filtration systems can be expensive initially (especially if you add the costs of a unit along with the costs of installation by a professional). Others dislike the idea of having to pay for and change water filters. Boiling your drinking water or drinking from bottles may be passable solutions for you also. There are pros and cons to every approach to drinking water, but you should make sure you do what you can to protect you and your family's drinking water.

Whatever your method, a countertop water filter like those available through Pristine water purification and others might help you avoid serious issues and contaminants in your drinking water.
